The Point - Spring 2021

In Fall 2021 Rose was hired onto the Point’s senior staff, taking on the role of Design Editor. When the spring semester began she was promoted, taking over the Visual Director position. As Visual Director, Rose oversaw the visual side of the publication, including all the staff designers and photographers. Through the semester Rose created timelines and schedules for the visual team senior staff, the photographers, and the designers. She oversaw all visual work being done for the magazine, provided feedback and edits for both photographers and designers, and was in charge of editing, putting together, and finalizing all of the magazine’s spreads before sending the completed publication off for printing.

As Visual Director, Rose was responsible for determining the issue’s color palette, a consistent visual element to use throughout the magazine, and for designing the Spring 2021 issue’s cover. She also worked with the Design Editor, Phoebe Han, to design the inner spreads for the magazine, including valuable information such as the letter from the editor and the table of contents.

Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, The Point had a limited amount of designers during Spring 2021, so Rose also designed the spreads for a story, “Modern Day Slaves,” written by Natalie Willis.
